Here I have attempted to build Nanoblock models of Austin Mini Cooper in different styles.
My focus was to build small size models while trying to maintain the characteristics of the Austin Mini Cooper. Each model consists of two different ways of build method; stud-upward and stud-forward methods were used to construct the main body and the front section of the car respectively.
Four different colour variations were considered.
The first was the classic British racing green with white roof top and white racing stripes on the bonnet. The second had the classic red/white colour combination.
The third car was in blue and I felt that the French national flag fits nicely on the roof top.
Finally the last car was in white with red/white chequered pattern on the roof top. I thought the cars looked a bit plain on their own, so I also made drivers for them Special blocks used are from the Shikensen train sets and the Kumamon (NBH-074) set.
I am reasonably satisfied with the outcome. However, the resemblance with the real car is not perfect, not even 70% likeness. But that was best thing I could do given the small size of the models.
After I made those four cars, I picked the white car and made some modifications to it.
The car body was extended to cover the ground to create a more ‘downforce’ look (I hope this works in reality!), and the front section of the car was also modified to have a more aggressive appearance to it.
Finally, I added two race queens (they were in fact two police women used in my previous models), one sitting on the roof and one standing next to it.
