I don't know if Nanoblock has a type, but if it did, as a 60 year old woman living in Utah, I would probably not be your typical Nanoblock builder. I got started with these little blocks about six months ago when I was looking for some Legos online for my 5 year old grandson. I ordered some small kits, and realized they were a little too complicated for my grandson, but a fun challenge for me. I have always loved puzzles, and Nanoblocks are like a 3D puzzle for me--not to mention that they are adorable when finished.
While putting Nanoblock kits together with instructions is enjoyable, designing my own original creations is more rewarding. My Roadrunner and Coyote project has special meaning to me because my late father-in-law loved that cartoon, and I wanted to do something to honour his memory. When creating something new, I just start building while looking at a photo, and don't really start with a plan.
I also enjoy turning photos of people into Nanoblock creations. (A Lego version of the Beatles inspired me to try it with Nanoblocks). So far I've only attempted these photos in monochromatic black and white, but would someday like to attempt one in colour.
Another project I am working on is building Nanoblock homes for a future Christmas village display. I'm leaving the backs of the homes open so I can put lights in them, and building them as I have extra blocks from other projects.
Most of my friends don't understand my fascination with these little blocks (they think I'm spending my time playing with toys living my second childhood), so it's great to be able to share some of my designs with fellow fans across the world.
